How to get a hearing aid?
First visit
This first visit is an opportunity to explain your hearing with the help of your hearing test. This visit takes about 30 minutes to an hour. Your hearing aid acoustician and you will speak about your hearing problems, define your expectations and find solutions to your hearing problem. We will ask you questions about your difficulties in various listening situations. This will help your hearing aid acoustician find the best solutions that will fit your lifestyle and your needs.
Choosing the hearing aid
This step can be done at the first visit. It all depends of your needs!
After analyzing your hearing test, the hearing acoustician will be able to offer you solutions to your needs with a variety of the world’s leading brand of hearing aids. You can make your choice based on the look, the performance and the price. The hearing aid acoustician will also explain the different governmental programs and their eligibility criteria. Since the hearing aids are mostly custom made, during this visit, the hearing aid acoustician will take your ear impression.

Après avoir analysé votre audiogramme, l’audioprothésiste propose des solutions à vos besoins avec les plus grandes marques mondiales d’appareils auditifs. Les appareils auditifs offrent plusieurs solutions. Vous pouvez faire votre choix en tenant compte de l’esthétisme, de la performance et des prix. L’audioprothésiste vous explique aussi les différents critères des organismes payeurs gouvernementaux. L’audioprothésiste prend ensuite l’empreinte de vos oreilles pour la fabrication sur-mesure de vos appareils auditifs.
Delivery of the hearing aids
About 2 weeks after the last visit, the hearing aid acoustician will deliverer your hearing aid. This appointment can take up to an hour and a half and will follow three steps. First we will adjust the hearing aid according to your hearing test. Secondly we will use an electro-acoustic analyser to check the accuracy of the fitting and finally we will explain how to change the batteries, how to clean the hearing aid, how to put the hearing aid in your ears, etc.
Follow-up visit
A follow-up visit is needed after 2 weeks following the delivery of the hearing aids. This visit is to ensure that the adjustments are well set. The hearing aid acoustician can reprogram the hearing aids and upgrade different features to help in various situation.
Check-Up Visit
Une visite de contrôle après 2 semaines (de port de l’appareil) est nécessaire pour un bon suivi de l’ajustement initial. Cette visite sert parfois à reprogrammer l’appareil pour une meilleure performance et à préciser certains aspects de l’appareillage.
